In Mike Berenstain’s Christmas-themed children’s book, The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel, the Berenstain kiddos have fun making an angel out of snow (which is described in step-by-step detail), and they learn that God sends angels to protect people from danger. They also learn about how angels played a major role in Jesus’ birth when they acted as messengers to Mary, the shepherds, and Joseph. This would be a great book to read during the winter season, when your yard is covered with snow and you’re looking for cozy indoor activities, such as reading good books!
Children may be excited to see Brother Bear, Sister Bear, and Honey Bear gather supplies and build their Christmas snow angel, and the Biblical lesson that they learn about angels is a good way to teach Psalm 93. The back page of the book has references to six more places in which angels are discussed in the Bible.
Like other books in the Berenstain Bears series, the book is full of cute illustrations and fun dialogue that would be enjoyable for parents and kids to read together aloud. The book contains 24 pages, and is 7.8 x 7.9 inches in size. Though everyone’s individual reading time will vary, some parents may finish reading the book to their children in about six minutes.
