Powell’s story of persevering through pain reminds me of the Bible passage Lamentations 3:22-23, which says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” No matter what trial we find ourselves in, God can give us new mercies each day.

Powell’s story is captivating. I loved seeing Powell’s strength and dedication as she persisted through complicated situations. Powell has three children, and the book shows how the family grieved together – and supported one other. Awful Beautiful Life shows that even when situations are overwhelming, God will be with us.
