When Lions Roar: The Churchills and the Kennedys by Thomas Maier is a compelling book, chronicling the connections between the famous Churchill and Kennedy families. The book not only talks about well-known facts, but also little-known details. The lengthy story is interesting, and though it is non-fiction, is reminiscent of a novel.
Before receiving When Lions Roar, I was not aware of how intertwined the Churchills and Kennedys were – not only Joe Kennedy and Winston Churchill, but their successive generations. This is a good book for examining success within famous families. Not all children of powerful leaders become powerful leaders themselves, and this is something we see play out in the book.
The photographs in the book add a nice touch. Lovers of history and fans of the Churchills or Kennedys will enjoy reading this book. But even if you’re not a history buff and not too familiar with these renowned families, the book is provides a good history lesson and a pleasurable read.
I received When Lions Roar from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review. You can buy the book here on Amazon.
