Life can be difficult. Our emotions can be complicated, and our insecurities can sometimes turn our hearts into a tangled mess. In Carey Scott’s book Untangled: Let God Loosen the Knots of Insecurity in Your Life, Scott explores how to overcome personal insecurities through Christ.
I liked how Scott was very open about her insecurities, and I enjoyed reading the stories she shared about her husband and children. I also appreciated the stories included that were written by other women, allowing the readers to see a wide range of issues people face. I thought it was great that Scott put a lot of emphasis on issues stemming from social media use, since it can be a problem for many people. Scott came across as down-to-earth and genuine in her writing. I’m glad she differentiated between guilt and shame, and I liked when she pointed out the conditions people make for their happiness or success (i.e. “You’ll be good enough when _____.”) The book includes a lot of helpful Bible verses and handy discussion questions, and would be a great book to read at a Bible study or discuss at a women’s retreat. Untangled is a very encouraging book!
I received a review copy from Revell. Untangled is available here on Amazon.
