In Sheila Wray Gregoire’s 9 Thoughts That Can Change Your Marriage, the author gives advice on how to improve and strengthen a marriage. Gregoire provides readers with ideas for maintaining communication, and she skillfully writes with both sincerity and humor. I found Gregoire’s insight to be valuable; she talks about a wide variety of topics, and not only discusses common marital problems, but offers viable solutions.
Throughout the book, Gregoire includes “Action Steps” to help implement her ideas, such as, “Identify your most common triggers for conflict. Keep track of them and then strategize ways to reduce them.” The book is probably best for couples who are already struggling with marital issues, though its advice is also applicable to married couples in general. Gregoire writes the blog To Love, Honor, and Vacuum, and this book is written in a similar style. I think it would be safe to say that if you like the blog, you’ll like the book, but if her blog isn’t your cup of tea, you might want to look for other marriage books.
