The Reckless Love of God: Experiencing the Personal, Passionate Heart of the Gospel by Alex Early explores God’s love for mankind. The book incorporates many valuable elements, and I thought it was interesting when Early said he started looking at Jesus as a person instead of a specimen to be studied. I liked the personal stories Early shared, as well as the Bible stories he highlighted, such as Mark 2 or John 4. Other sections I enjoyed were when Early talked about the disciples in detail, or when he discussed major obstacles that Christians face, including “inoculation,” in which continuously receiving small amounts of the Gospel (such as through a weekly church sermon) makes a Christian “immune” to the power of the Gospel. The book wonderfully focuses on how Jesus is the hero of the Bible, and how God’s reckless love can become the core of who we are as Christians.
