Dear Mister Essay Writer Guy: Advice and Confessions on Love, Writing, and Cannibals is a humorous parody advice column and writing guidebook by Dinty W. Moore. It is written in a pleasing dry style. One of my favorite sections of the book was when a letter writer commented on the differences between the hyphen and the em dash. I also liked the essay entitled “The Four Essential Tips for Telling the Truth in Memoir and Securing That Blockbuster Book Deal.” The book underlyingly provides interesting commentary on writing semantics, and lightly pokes fun at eccentric characters who write to Mister Essay Writer Guy.
