Snuggle Time Prayers, written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Cee Biscoe, is a cute board book with a soft cover. The illustrations feature endearing drawings of baby animals, often with a parent. I like the delicate look of the drawings. The text is written in a poetic fashion; the poems are grouped in verses of four, with the second and fourth lines rhyming. I like how each poem is based on a Bible verse. For example, the poem “God’s Friend” is based on John 15:15, and reminds children that God is our friend.
One of my favorite sets of pages was “Your Little Lamb,” which shows two sweet lambs playing in a serene pasture alongside flowers and butterflies; the pages are based on Psalm 23:1. I also really liked the section “Goodnight, God,” where a mother mouse is tucking her baby mouse in bed. Throughout the book, the drawings look dreamy and the verses are soothing; these poems truly are “Snuggle Time Prayers.” This is a good book to use as a bedtime story or bedtime devotional with young children, especially toddlers and preschoolers.
