In Heavenly Help: Experiencing the Holy Spirit in Everyday Life, Sarah Bowling explores what Jesus says about the Holy Spirit. Bowling comes from a charismatic background, and it was interesting to read her theological analyses and learn about her childhood. Bowling’s book talks about how the Holy Spirit is our helper, and she discusses what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit at the Last Supper. I liked how every other chapter featured a fictional story about a modern-day “Ruth and Naomi” that mirrored Bowling’s insights from the rest of the book. One of my favorite sections of Heavenly Help was when Bowling talked about what love is and what love is not.
