The Illustrated Compendium of Amazing Animal Facts is a hardbound collection of unique facts about animals by Maja Säfström. The author says the book “contains some of my favourite animals illustrated and presented along with one or a few fantastic things about each lovely one of them.”
At first, I thought the book did not have enough animal facts, since each set of pages just contained drawings of the animal and a few facts about that animal. But when I actually sat down to go through the book, I loved it. The book is not short – it has 120 pages – so I learned quite a lot. The black-and-white animal drawings are cute and artistic, and I enjoyed learning new things about a wide scope of animals. For example, did you know that a group of rhinos is called a crash? Or that rhino babies stay with their mothers until they are approximately three years old? This book turned out to be great, and I bet it would make a fun gift for someone.
