Anchor in the Storm by Sarah Sundin tells the World War II era story of Lillian Avery, a pharmacist in Boston, and her brother’s best friend, Ensign Archer Vandenberg. This is book #2 in the Waves of Freedom series. The story has a nice blend of romance and mystery, and those who read the first book in the series, Through Waters Deep, will be happy to see the characters Jim and Mary again, since Lillian is Jim’s sister. Like Sundin’s previous novel, the dialogue is enjoyable to read. The book is well-written, moves at a good pace, and contains round (and likable) characters.
