Ready, Set, Find Christmas is a children’s story and activity book by Zonderkidz. It is a board book, though the pages are a bit thinner and more flexible than some board books. The book has ten pages, and each set of two pages features a brief narrative and picture key on the left-facing page and an illustration on the right-facing page. For example, one left-facing page discusses how Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem to give birth to God’s son, along with a picture key of eight things to find in the illustration on the right-facing page: a lamb, a lizard, a donkey, a bag, a water bottle, a palm tree, a bird, and a shepherd.
The book is designed in a simplistic manner, and would probably be best for 3-year-olds. The characters look like cartoonized clay figures. The sentences are constructed at a very basic level, such as: When Mary and Joseph came to Bethehem, the innkeeper said, “There is no room.” Where would they sleep? The baby would be born soon. He would need a warm place to stay.
The best thing about this book is that it gets children interested in the nativity story, by combining the account of Jesus’ birth with the fun activity of locating pictures in the illustrations.
