For the Right Reasons

I really enjoyed reading For the Right Reasons: America’s Favorite Bachelor on Faith, Love, Marriage, and Why Nice Guys Finish First. It is written by Sean Lowe (along with Nancy French); in 2013, Lowe was The Bachelor on ABC’s hit reality show of the same name. I had watched Sean Lowe’s season, so I was already somewhat familiar with his story. However, this book gave interesting details about Sean and Catherine’s love story, and readers also got to see more of what goes on behind the scenes at The Bachelor. We also learn a lot about Sean Lowe’s Christian faith, as well as a bit about his life before he went on The Bachelor.

It was interesting hearing how little time Sean and Catherine had together before their proposal. I knew that The Bachelor was shot in a very condensed time period, and that each girl does not have a ton of time with The Bachelor, but I didn’t realize that almost all of their interactions with The Bachelor were captured on camera. This book really makes you think about the ethics related to reality television. Additionally, it was also interesting to read about the runner-up, Lindsay.

*End of spoilers*

Individuals who will enjoy this book the most would probably be Christians, Bachelor fans, or fans of Sean and Catherine Lowe. I received a review copy from Book Look. You can find the book here on Amazon.
