God Loves Mommy and Me is a delightful children’s book written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Laura Watkins. According to Amazon, the book is geared for 2 to 5-year-olds. The story shows the adventures of a mother rabbit and her bunny-child, and reminds readers that God loves us so much!
It is evident from the pages that the mother and child have a loving relationship. The bunny could be perceived as either a boy or girl (though my first thought was that it was a girl). The mother plays with her child, supports and encourages her, nurtures her, comforts her, and prays with her. The book would be a great fit for a single or married mother. Jensen and Watkins have also produced a similar book entitled God Loves Daddy and Me.
God Loves Mommy and Me is a 20-page board book, though the pages are thin enough to have some flexibility. The verses rhyme. One line of text reads, “God loves Mommy and me in lots of special ways! He gives us dandelions to pick on sunny, springtime days.” Watkin’s cheerful illustrations remind me of Easter and spring.
