Freedom’s Price is a historical fiction book by Christine Johnson, focusing on Catherine Haynes, an Englishwoman who travels to Louisiana in 1856. The book has a good mix of mystery, action, and romance. The book also has a nice fast pace, and suspense that can give you an “edge-of-your-seat” feeling.
Johnson weaves Christian elements throughout the book, showing the importance of faith in Jesus Christ. It was interesting watching the details further unfold with each chapter, and I liked how Catherine was clever, curious, and sensible. She was a strong female protagonist. Through Freedom’s Price, the reader is able to learn more about Louisianan culture in the 1850s.
