Keturah by Lisa T. Begren is an exciting novel that takes place in 1772 and focuses on Englishwoman Lady Keturah Banning Tomlinson, an heiress who travels with her sisters to her father’s estates in the West Indies. It was an interesting character study, and I liked seeing the sisters’ interactions with one another. My favorite character was definitely Keturah, and I admired her bravery and perseverance. Begren writes with beautiful description; it is easy to feel yourself transported into the West Indies in her scenes. The book makes me want to read more books about the West Indies during this time period.
