A Breath of Hope is a novel by Lauraine Snelling that focuses on Nilda Carlson, a Scandinavian immigrant to the Minnesota frontier. When reading this book, I loved seeing parts of Nilda’s culture and getting a better feel of Minnesota’s history.

Throughout the novel, Snelling shows us great examples of faith, courage, and perseverance. We see the importance of helping family and friends and relying upon them. Though Nilda is the protagonist, each member of her family is interesting and intriguing in their own way. Reading the book was an adventure!
