The Girls’ Guide to Conquering Middle School by Erica and Jonathan Catherman discusses one hundred topics related to middle school – from boyfriends, to book reports, to body odor. The book is written in a fun, friendly format, and the authors devote a lengthy paragraph to each topic. The authors also incorporate a unique fact or quote on each page, or list the steps of how to do something (such as how to properly wash your face).

The book sends a positive message, encouraging girls to learn and follow rules, do the right thing, and also enjoy life and have fun. This book would also be a good tool for parents to read with their children. Some of my favorite pages talked about reading for fun, eating well, and becoming aware of cyberbullies.
