In her book Between the Dark and the Daylight: Embracing the Contradictions of Life, author Joan Chittister says, “There is a part of the soul that stirs at night…It’s then, in the still of life, when we least expect it, that questions emerge…These questions do not call for the discovery of data; they call for the contemplation of possibility.”
Between the Dark and the Daylight discusses these questions – and life’s contradictions, such as the success of failure and the mirage of security. It’s a thought-provoking, comforting book; it makes you think, and challenges you, but simultaneously comes across as encouraging.
My favorite chapters were The Seeds of Love in Friendliness and the Loneliness in Doubt. This book is filled with wisdom and great advice. Chittister’s prayerful and beautiful words are full of meaning, and I liked looking at things through her perspective.
I received a review copy from Blogging for Books. Between the Dark and the Daylight is available here on Amazon.
