Many books tell you what not to eat while you’re pregnant, but What to Eat When You’re Pregnant: A Week-by-Week Guide to Support Your Health and Your Baby’s Development by Nicole M. Avena, PhD does much more. The book is full of healthy recipes that are specifically tailored for different gestational weeks, and the author goes into detail about the importance of various foods. Avena also talks about what foods to stay away from during pregnancy, and she discusses related topics, such as hormone changes and weight gain. I agree with the majority of Avena’s advice, and the book would be a good companion to similar titles, such as Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy.
What to Eat When You’re Pregnant is available here on Amazon. The delicious recipes would be great for practically anyone, not just pregnant women, and I am eager to make the “Golden Quinoa” as well as the “No-Bake Honey Almond Cereal Bars.”
