The Quieting: A Novel by Suzanne Woods Fisher is an Amish fiction book in The Bishop’s Family series. The story revolves around Abigail Stoltzfus and her genealogical research. I thought the theme of genealogy was a great way to add mystery and conflict to this story. Though the book is written in third person, I liked how Fisher gave the reader a glimpse into Abigail’s thoughts. The dialogue has a steady flow, and Fisher’s descriptions give good insight into the characters and their actions. On a side note, I was glad the the author included Mammi the Meddler’s recipe for beef and cheese noodle casserole at the end of the book.
