Often Christians form their own prayers to God. And other times, they recite prayers written by others – perhaps prayers that have become well-known, like The Apostle’s Creed or Glory Be To The Father. But no matter who writes a prayer, when a person prays words earnestly and sincerely, that prayer can become his own.
Every Season Prayers: Gospel-Centered Prayers for the Whole Life by Scotty Smith is a collection of prayers for all occasions, which include lovely prayers such as “A Prayer for Humbling Ourselves When We’d Rather Not” and “We Are Washed Clean and Guilt Free.” The 330-page paperback book includes both specific prayers, such as prayers for insomnia and a prodigal child, and general ones, such as thankfulness, failure, and gratitude. The prayers are detailed and thoughtfully written. If you are looking for a great book of prayers to pray along with, I would definitely recommend Every Season Prayers.
