The Temple and the Tabernacle: A Study of God’s Dwelling Places from Genesis to Revelation by J. Daniel Hays provides the reader with historical and theological information about Biblical temples and tabernacles. Hays includes many pictures of paintings and artifacts, as well as some illustrations and charts showing the layout of various temples and tabernacles. It was nice to read a historical overview about these holy spaces.
One of my favorite chapters in the book is Chapter 4, “Solomon’s Temple,” which discusses topics such as the construction of Solomon’s Temple, how it differed with the tabernacle Moses built, the attitude and role of the Israelite people in relation to its construction, and the identity and training of the leading craftsman. The book is well-researched, and Hays includes thorough endnotes.
