Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance is an autobiographical book by the 19-year-old Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, written with author Michelle Burford. It is a positive, upbeat memoir, demonstrating how Biles reached for her goals, chasing after her gymnastics dream.

Individuals who would be most interested would be fans of Simone Biles, lovers of gymnastics, or those who would like to learn a little more about the world of gymnastics. Reading the book, one can see what it is like to train as a competitive gymnast and to compete in the Olympics. It is very evident that Biles is a hard worker with a perseverant work ethic, and she is a great role model for young girls.

A nice thing about the book is seeing that Biles had such a happy childhood; even though she had a bit of a rough start to life, Biles was raised in a loving home and thrived as a child. The book shows readers Simone’s close relationship with her sister Adria, and it is great to see the connection they share. It is also interesting to read about Biles’ early fame – and when she realized strangers first knew who she was! Courage to Soar certainly chronicles how this girl has courageously soared.
