I have really enjoyed reading historical fiction novels written by Suzanne Woods Fisher, such as Minding the Light and Anna’s Crossing. Mending Fences is Fisher’s February 2019 release, the protagonist of which is Luke Schrock, who returns to his Amish hometown Stoney Ridge after time in rehab. The book centers on themes of forgiveness, apology, and confession. I liked seeing Luke improve his ways and confront his problems. I also liked how the book explores grace, pain, and the focus (or lake thereof) on someone’s outer appearance. Mending Fences is another great read by Fisher.
